Not since the great Chuck Schuldiner, godfather of the death metal genre, when concocting the first DEATH song or since Corpse Grinder vomited the first verse of the  VILE album has there been a more perverse, obscene and loud metal show!  We are here professing the voice of true heavy ass music which only the most pissed-off, weird and cool people like yourself would appreciate. The only show where the old school and the new school clash together!

"What fans want is somebody that comes down from another planet that you will never possibly visit, and touches you, and goes away again. That's what a real good rock show is like. Aliens from another world come and kick you in the teeth and fuck off quick, you know? Hendrix was like that." -Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead)

1. THE MODERN AGE SLAVERY - ARISE (SEPULTURA), Album: Requiem for Us All (2013)

The Modern Age Slavery band

Album Notes

When it comes to Italian Death Metal, Fleshgod Apocalypse and, at least more recently, Hour of Penance get as much attention as any band on the extreme side of (s)t(r)hings could possibly wish for. The land of pizza and pasta has spawned another leviathan of a band, though, thus giving birth to an unholy trinity: The Modern Age Slavery.

While listening to their first release, 'Damned To Blindness', had already induced a plethora of orgasms in me, their latest effort, 2013's 'Requiem For Us All', felt like the kind of album I had been eagerly awaiting for years. Well, not in the way a bum waits for their next welfare check, after they spent their last one on cheap booze during the first two weeks of the month, but more like a man with his head resting on the guillotine block, waiting for the hangman. And as it turned out during the very first moments of the record at hand, that analogy was quite appropriate, what with those razor-sharp riffs more than capable of chopping one's braincage off and those relentlessly blasting drums at the beginning of the title track, sitting right at the top of the tracklist. Cannibal Corpse band

Album Notes

In all seriousness, A Skeletal Domain is a great album. It’s everything that a Cannibal Corpse record should and needs to be. There’s nothing really new, no punches, or nothing else but Cannibal Corpse’s own brand of death metal. From top to bottom, the album is pure and focused dark and brutal energy.

“Consistency is often confused with repetition. We are established with what we do as a band, and we could relax and not push ourselves, but we try to push the envelope. That’s what make this exciting,” … “Anyone who really listens to this album with an open mind will hear that it’s not same-old same-old.” -Alex Webster (bass) Read more at Metal Injection.

"High Velocity Impact Spatter"

Heights unimagined unattained
To drop bodies from the sky
Alive in mid air moving fast
Heads exploding on the ground
Corrupted souls in front of trains
Just to watch the bodies fly
At the site of shredded innards
Brains exploded all around.

High velocity impact spatter.

You into walls excesive speed
Creates catastrophic sounds
Fresh blood and guts from off the pavement
Before stench of death sets in
Between the eyes and unexpected
Liquid red spraying behind
Impact spatter brutal force
Something I will always need.

High velocity impact spatter.

A necro potion is made
From the remains of the dead

Daily ritual intake
Drinking remains of the dead.

Death after life after death
Only obtained in one way.

Vomit Angel band

Wömit Angel was founded in early summer of 2010 in Tampere, Finland, by three guys who wanted to create music that makes you to drink your ass off and to mosh your head off, just like Impaled Nazarene and Motörhead does, so it was clear from the start that you could hear the attitude in Wömit Angel’s furious and storming music. 4. MARTY FRIEDMAN - SOCIOPATH, Album: Inferno (2014)

Marty Friedman

Album Notes

"Inferno," FRIEDMAN's first album of original material in four years and his first in more than a decade to be released worldwide simultaneously. Recorded in Los Angeles with engineer Chris Rakestraw (Children of Bodom, Danzig) and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth), the album features what FRIEDMAN recently told Guitar World is "the most intense writing and playing I can do," with the goal of "go(ing) completely ape-shit, in the most 'Marty' way possible."
"I'm extremely proud of the work I've done with Cacophony and Megadeth, but I was never interested in looking back or stopping there," FRIEDMAN says. "'Inferno' is the album that fans of my work with those two bands have always wanted me to make. I've finally made it, and completely on my own maniacal terms."
Notably, "Inferno" includes several collaborations with players influenced by FRIEDMAN, including Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Revocation guitar whiz David Davidson, the flamenco/metal acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela and acclaimed rocker Danko Jones. In addition, the album features FRIEDMAN's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in Cacophony. Ultimately, though, it's arguably the most compelling chapter yet in FRIEDMAN's improbable international journey -- one for which he's excited to have fans in all countries along for the ride.

5. EXODUS - BODY HARVEST, Album: Blood in Blood out (2014)

Exodus Band

Album Notes

While it's easy to empathize with Rob Dukes' predicament, the result of "Blood In, Blood Out" is an overwhelming success. This band is more recharged even than when pulling together "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" in 2005 and Steve "Zetro" Souza has plenty to do with it. The rest is left to some ingenious songwriting, punishing thrash and an old school refusal to die. Even the double-hammered breakdown on the slower "My Last Nerve" still deals some of the heaviest tones on this or any metal album to-date. This is one of EXODUS' finest outputs in their three-plus decades as a band and it deserves to become one of the toast albums of 2014. The cruddy circumstances leading up to it put aside, "Blood In, Blood Out" far exceeds what the fans could've wanted from it. Pared down to a simple sentence, this album is fucking sick. 6. OBITUARY - VIOLENCE, Album: Inkted in Blood (2014)

obituary band

Album Notes

As it seems to be a pattern this year in metal, "Inked in Blood" is dealt mostly on the slower side — if CROWBAR and AUTOPSY's latest offerings aren't indicative enough of this trend. OBITUARY has of late been experimenting with their sound on "Xecutioner's Return" and "Darkest Day". So it's no surprise then "Inked in Blood" resumes this inclination with relative unpredictability, which serves the album's cause. Speed is incremental on this album; heaviness is assured. Occasionally choppy, all over the place, but never boring, "Inked in Blood" is a winner in the fact it makes every grubby and gory minute count. OBITUARY's financial backers will consider this album a high dividend. Read more at Blabbermouth

Mundano band

Song Notes

Emerging from the crime infested, corrupt government and violent streets of Guatemala city comes MUNDANO. Essentially, Guatemala's premiere death metal act. Fueled by an upside down society, religious liars, political puppets, corrupt police, gangs and Guatemala's spoiled aristocrats; the band has managed to capture a sonic portrait of social decay through thier first debut 'Conteo de los Craneos' 2012. Mostly a sonic display of classic and modern death metal, the sonically abusive rythmn section is complimented by lead vocalist Christian Vanderberg's harsh gutural singing. MUNDANO has been busy writing material for a new release soon to be announced. As a first, the band has made available a demo version of a new track entitled 'Cadena de Muertos'. A gargantuan composition of modern brutal death metal which is showing the band's new direction in increasing the level of pain! The song is free for download at the band's reverbnation site.

MUNDANO is Richard Padilla (Drums) Oliverio Martinez (Bass) Andres Sandoval (Guitar) Christian Vandenberg (Vocals).

8. SLIPKNOT - THE DEVIL IN I, Album: Slipknot .5 The Gray Chapter(2014)

Album Notes

The band has characterized ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ as a cross between ‘Iowa’ and ‘Vol.3: (The Subliminal Verses),’ at least in terms of musical approach, and it does indeed contain both the raw aggression of the former and the artistic reach of the latter. But rather than beat a crisis-driven retreat to a musical comfort zone, Slipknot reveal an encouraging willingness here to stretch themselves even further. Opening track “XIX,” for example, is a masterpiece of unresolved tension consisting mostly of disconcerting samples, a haunting viola drone, and Corey Taylor’s anguished (and very loudly mixed) vocals. After nearly three minutes of build-up, Taylor yowls like a trap door has just opened under him, and you immediately expect the full band to come crashing in together—but instead, there’s only weird sawing noises, bells, and animal sounds underlining the space where Taylor’s voice used to be. “Kill Pop” starts out with Taylor crooning over an atmospheric electronic groove, and ends with him screaming his guts out over a Metallica-esque rave-up. “The One That Kills the Least” features ringing, Cure-like guitars, layered vocals, and a crunching verse that leads into a soaring and melodic chorus. “Custer” begins with an intentionally smarmy Taylor monologue (“Listener aggression is advised,” he purrs) then explodes into one of the album’s most punishing cuts. “Cut, cut, cut me up and fuck, fuck, fuck me up” Taylor implores, again and again, before the track screeches to a halt. 9. SODOM - M16, Album: M16 (2001)

sodom band

Album Notes

If Bernemann's guitar work in the riff category can be compared to a rifle, then his solos are the ammunition. High-piercing, chaotic, and in a pure frenzy, the solos that he fires off left and right only reflect the magnitude of insanity found in the tracks. There's hardly any melody scattered throughout them, save maybe on "Napalm in the Morning", "Genocide", and when he mixes some melody on "M-16". The rest are straight up shredders, mowing down anything in their path. On "Among the Weirdcong", Bernemann sets the tone for the entire album, matching the songs ferocity with his own. The solos are truly a sight within themselves, and they are no small feat to accomplish. They ricochet off every surface and will always redirect straight for your cranium. Read more

10. NECROSIS - KILLING ENGINE, Album: Reenslaved to the Machine(2014)

Necrosis band

After 5 years, and some line up changes, the Chilean metal band NECROSIS comes back with 'Reenslaved to the machine. The album' was recorded at RAF Studios, Santiago, Chile and produced by its drummer Andy Nacrur, during 2013
All music written by Andy Nacrur, Nataniel Infante and Cesar Añasco, except Electric Prayer, courtesy of Miguel Lara. Cover art by Aldo Rojas, designed by Enrique “Kike” Reyes. Layout by Carlos Thiers. Band photo by Sebastian Dominguez. Currently, the album is available on all major online store and streaming services. The CD format will be available in November via Digmetalworld Records, the album will be released to the public via MVD Entertainment Group in North America and Plastic Head in Europe in January.  Necrosis is one of the very first bands that came out from Chile. Their first album  'The Search' was released in 1988, recorded in Chile, produced in Brazil and released via Metal Maniac Records (now Hellion Records) in Brazil. It was the very first album released in vinyl format for a Chilean band at that time. The band split up in the early nineties after Alfredo Peña's suicide and reformed around 1999, recorded 'Enslaved to the Machine (2001)' and once again split up, this time due to musical differences and lack of time. The band expects to release in 2015, the remake of their album 'Reborn' originally from 2009.

12. ACCEPT - BALLS TO THE WALL, Album: Balls to the Wall (1983)

Album Notes

Accept's most notorious album, Balls to the Wall was also their biggest commercial success. Following hot upon the heels of their creative breakthrough, Restless and Wild, you'd also be hard pressed to find a more sexually charged record in any musical genre. Its hysterically nonsensical lyrics notwithstanding, the legendary title track remains an irresistible, fist-pumping masterpiece that came to epitomize the modern, slow-marching metal anthem as it became known. And when paired with second single "London Leatherboys," it arguably constitutes the most blatantly homoerotic couplet in the history of heavy metal (eat your heart out, Rob Halford). "Fight It Back" is about as close as the band gets to their old, semi-thrashing ways (taken to the limit the previous year with the maniacal "Fast as a Shark"), and it is the more melodic "Head Over Heels" and semi-ballad "Losing More Than You've Ever Had" that set the tone for Accept's future direction. The album's third undisputed classic, the driving "Love Child," kicks off side two with one of metal's great staccato riffs -- so good, the band revisits it nearly verbatim a few songs later with "Losers and Winners," which is nearly as powerful. And though not quite as celebrated, the remaining tracks are no less potent, especially the slowly building tension heard on the downright lascivious "Turn Me On." The bottom line here is that this, like its predecessor Restless and Wild, is an essential heavy metal album, and any fan worth his salt should own them both. But, for the sake of first-time visitors, Balls to the Wall is the slightly more melodic, less gritty of the two. Whichever you chose, you can only win. Read more at All Music.

13. JUDAS PRIEST - GRINDER, Album: British Steel (1980)

Album Notes

Predating Metallica's self-titled blockbuster by 11 years, Judas Priest's British Steel was a similarly pitched landmark boasting many of the same accomplishments. It streamlined and simplified the progressive intricacies of a band fresh off of revolutionizing the entire heavy metal genre; it brought an aggressive, underground metal subgenre crashing into the mainstream (in Priest's case, the NWOBHM; in Metallica's, thrash); and it greatly expanded the possibilities for heavy metal's commercial viability as a whole. Of course, British Steel was nowhere near the sales juggernaut that Metallica was, but in catapulting Judas Priest to the status of stadium headliners, it was the first salvo fired in heavy metal's ultimate takeover of the hard rock landscape during the 1980s. Packed with strong melodic hooks, British Steel is a deliberate commercial move, forsaking the complexity of the band's early work in favor of a robust, AC/DC-flavored groove. It's a convincing transformation, as Priest prove equally adept at opening up their arrangements to let the rhythms breathe (something Iron Maiden, for all their virtues, never did master). The album is built around the classic singles "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight," both big hits in the U.K., which openly posit Priest as a party band for the first time. 14. IN THIS MOMENT - WHORE, Album: Blood (2013)

In This Moment Band

Album Notes

Blood, the fourth studio outing from Los Angeles, California-based arena metalcore outfit In This Moment, retains much of 2010's A Star-Crossed Wasteland's pop sheen, while adding new electronic elements to the mix. The first album to be recorded sans founding members Blake Bunze and Jeff Fabb, the record is steeped in the brooding, ornate, angst-filled, sonically meticulous craftsmanship that has made the group a festival favorite since its 2007 debut. The collection offers up 14 new tracks, including the blistering first single, "Blood," which was written by vocalist Maria Brink, lead guitarist Chris Howorth, and Juno Award-winning producer Kevin Churko. 15. CADAVERIA - VELO (The Other Side of Hate), Album: Silence (2014)

Cadaveria band

Album Notes

Silence’ is the title of Cadaveria’s fifth full length album, following the critically acclaimed ‘Horror Metal’, released in 2012 on Bakerteam Records, which gained enthusiastic consent worldwide and led the band on tour from Europe to South America for most part 2012 and 2013.

‘Silence’ was mainly composed in 2013 and recorded between May and July 2014 in three different recording studios owned by the band itself. It features eleven brand new tracks for a total running time of about 47 minutes, described as the perfect soundtrack for a contemporary horror movie, set in dark cellars, smelling of incense and seeping pain, rage and melancholy. The atmospheres are cryptic and otherworldly, but the mood and the musical approach are strikingly aggressive and concrete. The lyrics, written by singer Cadaveria, swing between the afterlife dimension and reality, unveiling the soul of their author as never before.

16. NECRODEATH - WRATH, Album: The 7 Deadly Sins (2014)

Necrodeath band

Album Notes

Legendary black/thrashers Necrodeath are back with their much anticipated new album ‘The 7 Deadly Sins’, following the critically acclaimed, single-track album ‘Idiosyncrasy’. The new effort goes back to the band’s roots, delivering 7 fast and brutal songs centering around the 7 sins. For the first time ever, the band used their Italian mother tongue to write most of the lyrics, as well as English and Latin, giving a different edge to the music itself. Also, 2 classic songs from the band’s catalogue have been re-recorded by the new line-up and included in the tracklist, ‘Thanatoid’ from ‘Fragments Of Insanity’ (1989) and ‘Graveyard Of The Innocents’ from ‘Into The Macabre’ (1987). The artwork features a provocative shot of renowned porn star Mila Ramos. The album has been anticipated by a 7-inch vinyl single release of the song ‘Wrath’. Here's how Necrodeath's drummer Peso commented the event: "'Wrath' is one of the most brutal, fast and uncompromising songs we have ever written. In a way, we have gone back to our roots. This song will definetely give you an idea how the album sounds: 100% Necrodeath. 100% Hell!"

17. NAILBOMB - COCHROACHES, Album: Point Blank (1994)

Nailbomb band

Album Notes

Point Blank wears its pedigree on its sleeve. Nailbomb's first -- and only -- studio album combines the thrash-metal fury of Sepultura with the robotic industrial clangor of Fudge Tunnel in more or less equal proportions, though the end product boasts slightly more Fudge overall than Sep, which may be slightly surprising considering that nearly the entire Sepultura lineup is present on the guest list -- both Andreas Kisser and Igor Cavalera are credited. Then again, there's also Dino Cazares of Fear Factory and Ritchie Bujnowski from Wicked Death, so the industrial and metal factions are pretty evenly balanced. The jacket sleeve picture -- a female Viet Cong suspect with a U.S. soldier's gun to her head, and the credits that, among other things, direct a "f*** you" toward "fake hippies," "Lenny Kranivitz," and "Skinhead O'Connor," give some indication of what to expect and, truly, Point Blank doesn't disappoint in the energy department. There isn't much here by way of melody, but Nailbomb does have a mean punk streak, a full complement of relentless grinding riffs, and an industrial-strength percussive roar. The lyrics are uniformly nihilistic and the album is riddled with left-field samples that add a disorienting, dehumanizing texture -- ranging from vocal snippets taken from Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer to the sounds of Max Cavalera beating up on his washing machine and Alex Newport slamming the brakes on a broken-down old car he drove at the time the album was being made. Nailbomb's aesthetic may be lo-fi (everything except the guitars and drums was recorded in Cavalera's house), but there's no quarter given when it comes to the ass-kicking that is full-on malevolent from the get-go. Cavalera and Newport wrote all the songs here, except for a cover of Doom's "Exploitation." Point Blank is abrasive, in your face, and loud as hell with the lid off. Too bad Nailbomb didn't live long enough to follow it up.

18. PRONG - BROKEN PEACE, Album: Cleansing (1994)

Tomy Victor Prong

Album Notes

The aptly titled Cleansing offers a cleansing of Prong's sound, tightening up their trademark drilling guitars while adding some slight techno and industrial touches, which only heightens the tension. Thankfully, none of this compromises the band, but only strengthens their already muscular metallic roar. In fact, it helps makes Cleansing their most varied and best record yet.

Prong Cleansing

19. CONVERGE - SADDNESS COMES HOME, Album: All We Love We Leave Behind (2012)

Converge band

Album Notes

The brilliant hardcore band Converge have been around a long time, though you might not guess it from the manic energy crammed into their eighth album, All We Love We Leave Behind. If you go beyond the amped, break-neck intensity and listen to the compositions, it becomes clear the Boston band is nearing the 25-year mark: You don't just show up and write songs like this.

One of the quartet's not-so-secret weapons is Kurt Ballou, the guitarist (and backing vocalist, bassist, keyboardist, etc.), who happens to be one of the most well-regarded engineers in heavy music and an endless tinkerer who'd build a snare from scratch if it meant getting the sound he needed. The central core of vocalist/in-house artist Jacob Bannon and Ballou-- along with bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller, who both joined in 1999-- have been together long enough to know each other very well, and to play almost entirely to their own strengths. 20. SLAYER - ANGEL OF DEATH, Album: Reign in Blood (1986)

Slayer Angel of Death

[Lyrics & Music - Hanneman]

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The way that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life
Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your life's worth
Human mice, for the Angel of Death
Four hundred thousand more to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the Aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia
Feel the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time
'Til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their
Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust
Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you
Abacinate, eyes that bleed
Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants he's creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid Angel of Death
Flying free

Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death

21. ABYSMAL DAWN - THE INEVITABLE RETURN TO DARKNESS, Albumsurprisedbsolescence  (2014)

Abysmal Dawn

Album Notes

One can’t expect to be too surprised by an Abysmal Dawn record. On their fourth full-length, the L.A. death metallers chug forward with their traditional mixture of speed, technicality, and twisted melody, reminiscent of Origin, Gojira, and The Black Dahlia Murder. While the album’s opening cuts sometimes sound similar-bordering-on-repetitive, later tracks like “One Percent Incomplete” and “By My Demons” showcase frontman Charles Elliot’s talent for menacing atmosphere and creative riff- and vocal-patterns, while their closing Dissection cover shreds fantastically. Those seeking a reliable tech-death assault—one that suggests an awesome live show—need look no further. Read more at Revolver

The Hell

This brutal five-piece is now out to do the same to the rest of the world, using the release of their second album, Groovehammer, on 8 July as a convenient starting gun...When so many similar bands seem to carry gimmicks that distract from the music, it’s certainly refreshing to experience a band who, despite the rather jagged-edge finish they give everything, provide very little on which to focus on other than what they’re playing. 2. SLAYER - IMPLODE, New track (2014)

Tom Slayer

IMPLODE -lyrics

So is it just me or everyone can see the world drowning in its own blood?
Humanity's declined, spanned over time, a fossil drying in the mud
It's deception and decree that germinate and see how deception growing all around
Is this beginning or the end? In darkness we descend and I can't wait to see it all go down

Standing in the room only for World War 10
Front row center to the ultimate end
Mankind comes to believing this sloth
Take on the charades till we murdered our souls

Like a fire storm reaching out of control
Demons reaching all, it's taking its toll
And deep down in your personal hell
Fishing out to everyone but never yourself

With Resurrection And Divine
Extermination Of The Swine

Sick of this shit called power scene
Lash on forth, give them what they need
Bring all the devils in the world, conspire
Acting with malice, only feel the fire

No wonder people of religion are obsessed
All they want from us you shall get
Arrogance will never lift the fools' regime
Know you gonna understand what I mean

With Resurrection And Divine
Extermination Of The Swine

So many stupid fall, I said it a million times
There's nothing looking over us
It's just mistakes you made out of your own hate
The personality in each of us

Society will bleed so what's it gonna be
Destructive road or go
And if I do the wrong through teachings of a song
I'm pretty sure that God still hates us all

Standing in the room only for World War 10
Front row center to the ultimate end
Mankind comes to believing this sloth
Take on the charades till we murdered our souls

No wonder people of religion are obsessed
All they want from us you shall get

Vomitile band

Formed in early 2007 the band released a 7-track EP in 2010 and three years later their debut album Igniting Chaos was released. They have played live numerous times, including support slots for legendary SODOM and OBITUARY. VOMITILE’s style is pure old school death metal with some melodic elements. Superb deathly growls and thunderous drumming along with fierce riffing make this release a must for any devoted death metal fan! The album was mastered by Andy Classen, at Stage One studios in Germany, who has also worked with ASPHYX, DESTRUCTION and ROTTING CHRIST among others. website “Mastering the Art of Killing” is set for release on October 3rd (EU) and November 11th (US) on Pitch Black Records.

4. CARCASS - HEARTWORK, Album: Heartwork, (1993)

Carcass Band

Album Notes

Heartwork marks Carcass' return after the self-imposed hiatus that followed 1991's Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious. It's also the pioneering grindcore outfit's breakthrough release, successfully grafting melody onto the existing muscle of Carcass' punishing antimusic. Some purists might decry its melodic breaks for soloing or nods toward conventional structure. But Heartwork is that rare album that so carefully dissects and reconstructs its original form that its additional body parts seem like they were there all along. Readd more at All Music.

5. AZOOMA - Encapsulated Delusion, Album: A Hymn of the Vicious Monster (2014)

Azooma band

Album Notes

AZOOMA spend most of 2012 and 2013 writing and recording new material for the band's debut EP, "A Hymn Of The Vicious Monster", which sounds heavy, brutal and fast. They mixed old school death metal elements with some Persian ones, which run through their veins, resulting in 6 heavy masterpiece tracks. In 2014, AZOOMA contacted the Iranian heavy metal Journalist and Chief Editor of Metal Shock Finland, Mohsen Fayyazi, for help to reach a suitable record label for releasing this EP. Mohsen accepted their request and they inked a deal. AZOOMA signed a contract with Spanish record company Xtreem Music. Now, "A Hymn Of The Vicious Monster" was released worldwide on June 15th through Xtreem Music. Read more

6. JUDAS PRIEST - THE HELLION/ELECTRIC EYE, Album: Screaming for Vengeance (1982)

Judas Priest 1982

Album Notes

Judas Priest rebounded from the shaky Point of Entry with Screaming for Vengeance, arguably the strongest album of their early-'80s commercial period. Having moved a bit too far into simplistic hard rock, Vengeance found the band refocusing on heavy metal, and achieving a greater balance between commercialism and creativity. The results were catchy and accessible, yet harder-hitting, and without the awkwardly apparent calculation that informed the weakest moments of the album's two predecessors. Read more at All Music.

Screaming for Vengeance 1982

Electric Eye - Lyrics

Up here in space
I'm looking down on you.
My lasers trace
Everything you do.
You think you've private lives
Think nothing of the kind.
There is no true escape

I'm watching all the time.
I'm made of metal
My circuits gleam.
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean.

I'm elected electric spy
I protected electric eye.
Always in focus
You can't feel my stare.
I zoom into you
You don't know I'm there.
I take a pride in probing all your secret moves
My tearless retina takes pictures that can prove.

Electric eye, in the sky
Feel my stare, always there
's nothing you can do about it.
Develop and expose
I feed upon your every thought
And so my power grows.
Protected. Detective. Electric eye.

7. SAXON - WHEELS OF STEEL, Album: Wheels of Steel (1980)

saxon band

Album Notes

After finding themselves a qualified heavy metal producer in Pete Hinton, the members of Saxon recovered from their disappointing debut in fine form with 1980's career-defining Wheels of Steel. As well as effectively setting the template for the band's most successful efforts, the album's songs positively gleamed with a bright, metallic sheen similar to that exhibited by the chrome eagle hoisting a motorcycle wheel on its iconic cover. Wasting no time with niceties, Wheels of Steel kicked straight into fifth gear with one of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal's signature anthems, "Motorcycle Man." A proto-speed metal classic, the song also reintroduced the oft-recurring biker themes that would rear up again on the even more frenzied "Freeway Mad" and the album's epic title track. 8. Mercyful Fate - Curse of the Pharaohs, Album: Melissa, (1983)

Mercyful fate band

Album Notes

Mercyful Fate's debut album, Melissa, took Black Sabbath's dark occult obsessions to an extreme, fusing them with the speed and tightened, twin-guitar riffing attack of British metal bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. But the band had a distinctive sound of its own, thanks to the neo-classical flourishes of guitarists Hank Shermann and Michael Denner and the unpredictable vocal leaps of King Diamond, who could jump from a deathly growl to an unearthly falsetto wail in the next line. Curse of the Pharaohs - Lyrics

Away out in Egypt in the valley of kings
Where the mummified pharaohs
Pretend dead in their sleep

Don't touch, never ever steal
Unless you're in for the kill
Or you'll be hit by the curse of the pharaohs
Yes, you'll be hit and the curse is on you

Now if you're breakin' the seals
And disturbing the peace
Then you're startin' up a curse
Bringin' evil disease

Don't touch, never ever steal
Unless you're in for the kill
Or you'll be hit by the curse of the pharaohs
Yes, you'll be hit and the curse is on you

The curse of the pharaohs can be so deadly
Or just destroying your future
Takin' it all shady

Don't touch, never ever steal
Unless you're in for the kill
Or you'll be hit by the curse of the pharaohs
Yes, you'll be hit and the curse is on you

9. Ozzy Osbourne - Miracle Man, Album: No Rest for the Wicked, (1988)

Ozzy Prince of Darkness

Album Notes

Things start to improve for Ozzy on No Rest for the Wicked, as Zakk Wylde replaces Jake E. Lee on guitar and Osbourne comes up with his best set since 1983. Again, it's not quite up to the level of excellence his Blizzard of Ozz band achieved, but Osbourne sounds somewhat rejuvenated, and Wylde is a more consistently interesting guitarist than Lee. Highlights include "Miracle Man" (in which Ozzy gloats about the downfall of the TV preachers who had long attacked him as an agent of Satan).

Miracle Man - Lyrics

I'm looking for a Miracle Man
That tells me no lies
I'm looking for a Miracle Man
Who's not in disguise
I don't know where he'll come from
And I don't know where he's been
But it's not our Jimmy Sinner
Because he's so obscene

Miracle Man got busted
Miracle Man got busted

Today I saw a Miracle Man
On TV cryin'
Such a hypocritical man
Born again, dying

He don't know where he's going
But we know just where he's been
'Twas our little Jimmy Sinner
That I saw on the screen

Miracle Man got busted
Miracle Man got busted
Miracle Man got busted
Miracle Man

A Devil with a crucifix
Brimstone and fire
He needs another carnal fix
To take him higher and higher
Now Jimmy, he got busted
With his pants down
Repent ye wretched sinner
Self righteous clown

10. QUEENSRYCHE - DO YOU BELIEVE IN LOVE, Album: Operation: Mindcrime (1988)

Queensryche band

Album Notes

Queensrÿche scored their breakthrough success with the ambitious concept album Operation: Mindcrime, which tells the story of a fortune hunter whose disillusionment with Reagan-era American society leads him to join a shadowy plot to assassinate corrupt leaders. For such a detailed story line (there is also a tragic romance thrown in), the band keeps its focus remarkably well, and the music is just as ambitious, featuring a ten-minute track with orchestrations by Michael Kamen. Those experiments don't tend to work as well as the tighter, more melodic prog metal songs, which are frequently gems, especially the singles "Eyes of a Stranger" and "I Don't Believe in Love." 11. KREATOR - PLEASURE TO KILL, Album: Pleasure to Kill, (1986)

Kreator live

Album Notes

As fierce and unyielding as the group's debut, Endless Pain, was, Pleasure to Kill provides double the sonic carnage and superior material. Standout tracks include the syncopated "Riot of Violence" and the sprawling closer "Awakening of the Gods." Pleasure to Kill might not be the best recording from Kreator, but in many ways, it could be the most significant. Read more.

Pleasure to Kill - Lyrics

Day turns to night as I rise from my grave
Black was the hole were I laid
Stalking the city to seek out your blood
I love when it showers from my blade
Your body is so pretty but how will it look
When my perverted lust is stilled
No one to save you no parents or friends
Because they've already got killed
My only aim is to take many lives
The more the better I feel
My only pleasure is to hear many cries
From those tortured by my steel
The colour of your blood from your open body
Is all I wanted to see
Tasting the blood from your lips as you die
Means satisfaction to me
Pleasure to kill
Hear my heartbeat as you see me upon you
Tears in your eyes I do not care
Listen now to the motor of my chainsaw
Open your eyes don't be scared
Look into my eyes do you see any love?
The only thing is agony
Now I can't wait to give you the good pain
Die now and be free
My only aim is to take many lives
The more the better I feel
My only pleasure is to hear many cries
From those tortured by my steel
The colour of your blood from your open body
Is all I wanted to see
Tasting the blood from your lips as you die
Means satisfaction to me
Pleasure to kill

Now that my mission is done
Your body forgotten has been killed
I return to the cemetery
And my bloodlust is stilled
My coffin is open for me
I lay down and rest
Nothing will set me free
And so I kill until excess
Day turns to night as I rise from my grave
Black was the hole where I laid
Stalking the city to seek out your blood
I love when it showers from my blade
Your body is so pretty but how will it look
When my perverted lust is stilled
No one to save you no parents or friends
Because they've already got killed
My only aim is to take many lives
The more the better I feel
My only pleasure is to hear many cries
From those tortured by my steel
The colour of your blood from your open body
Is all I wanted to see
Tasting the blood from your lips as you die
Means satisfaction to me

12. TESTAMENT - OVER THE WALL, Album: The Legcy (1987)

Testament band

Album Notes

Signed by thrash metal mecca Megaforce Records, the group lent its original name to the following year's remarkable debut, The Legacy. Hailed as an instant classic within thrash metal circles, the album's coupling of furious riffs and harmonic sensibility stood second only to Metallica in controlled power, technical delivery, and sheer confidence. It also benefited from Megaforce's recently obtained distribution deal with Atlantic Records, and Testament lived up to their promise while touring America and Europe in support of Anthrax -- then experiencing their peak with the Among the Living album. Recorded on that tour, the Live at Eindhoven EP cemented Testament's standing as champions of thrash's second wave, and despite lacking the consistency of their debut, 1988's sophomore The New Order maintained their forward momentum and led to yet another lengthy world tour that took the band as far as South America. read more at All Music

Over the Wall - Lyrics

I've been a prisoner
Trapped in by fear
Ordered for the rest of my life
Condemned in a jail cell
Ain't seen life in years
Escape is the only way out

Restart my life
Or self destruction
To climb this wall
Of dark construction
Holding the quest for freedom
That beckons me

My sanity is all but gone
My patience is growing very weak
I need to get a hold of myself
I stare at the wall
For the right time has come
Escape must occur on this night

Stand in my way
And I'll run you straight through
There's no one to stop me now
For I'm on the loose
And I'm ready to start
Torture and hell an this town

OVER THE WALL !!!!!!!!

The search will not stop
And hounds will not rest
Till I am back in my cell
For if I am caught,I'll try it again
Over the wall I will go,I will go

13. EXODUS - A LESSON IN VIOLENCE, Album: Bonded by Blood (1983)

Exodus band

Album Notes

Exodus were one of the earliest thrash bands of the 80’s that contributed enormously to the consolidation of the subgenre. They opened for Raven back then, along with Metallica and Anthrax in that legendary tour that introduced a new refreshing violent sound in the US. Among the crowd of those shows, there were many future essential musicians for this music who, inspired by what they heard, would try to make their own stuff. But Exodus were on stage, becoming one of the leading acts of the movement. With the departure of Kirk Hammett, it is said the band took the direction they really wanted from the beginning, changing their sound considerably into what made them one of the most acclaimed groups of the decade. It all started with Bonded By Blood. Read more

Bonded by Blood is their first album, and possibly their best. It contains well known thrash anthems "A Lesson in Violence", a 7 minute epic "Deliver us to Evil", and the ever-so-cool "Bonded by Blood" which contains the insanely cool lyrics "There's blood up on the stage/Bang your head against the stage!" and overall is a thrash classic.

Exodus were:
Paul Baloff - Vocals
Gary Holt - Guitars
Rick Hunolt - Guitars
Rob McKillop - Bass
Tom Hunting - Drums

A Lesson in Violence - Lyrics

If you got something to say
Then come my way
I'm guarded by Satan
I'm riding on Baphomet
I'll teach you a lesson in violence
You won't soon forget

The pleasure of watching you die
Is what I will get

Fight - for what you believe to be right
Crushing with all your might
I laugh at their pitiful cries
They run from the fire in my eyes

Nothing can save them now

paul baloff exodus

You've learned a lesson in violence
Get on your knees and bow
Or learn a lesson in violence
I love to stab my victims
Until they're dead
A knife to the throat
Or a smashing blow to the head
I'm judge and jury
My sentence has just been passed
Step into the circle of hell
If you think you can last

Fight for what you believe to be right
Crushing with all your might
I laugh at their pitiful cries
They run from the fire in my eyes

Nothing can save them now
You've learned a lesson in violence
Get on your knees and bow
Or learn a lesson in violence

14. OBSESSÖR - RETURN OF THE USURPER, Album: Assassins of the Pentagram (2014)

obssesor band

Emerging from the depths of Hell in 2009, German Metal commando OBSESSÖR didn`t waste much time until their first release „Black Thrashing Blasphemy“ was spat upon mankind in the same year. Back then, the sound was a very harsh glimpse of what would be about to come from these demons in the following years.

The first full length „Blitzkrieg Battalion“ saw the dark of day in 2012 via GoatKult Symphonies and opened more doors for those hellish tyrants, followed by numerous live performances in several countries with many well respected artists and bands, such as Gehennah, Barbatos, Blizzard and
Delirium Tremens.

After a split CD in 2012, „Black Magic Rites“ was released as 7“ vinyl in 2013 on mighty Deathstrike Records, presenting the band more mature and focussed than ever before. The two brand-new assaults, besides two re-recordings of old songs, already marked their slight change to a more aggressive and Speed Metal orientated sound.

To herald the arrival of a new dark age, MetalPunxRex dared to disgorge yet another 7“ vinyl in 2014. This time OBSESSÖR and their brothers in arms HELLHUNT gathered forces to set the night on fire! This mean piece of black wax perfectly prepared humanity for the inexorable darkness: „Assassins Of The Pentagram“, OBSESSÖR`s second full length album was released on Evil Spell Records in summer 2014!!! 10 dark and heavy hymns of pure Black Speed Metal to poison the souls of real Heavy Metal maniacs!! The line-up has been stable throughout the years to this very day, the next live rituals are already planned, there is more to come....INTO SPEED METAL HELL!!!! Read more

15. BLUE CHEER - SUMMER TIME BLUES, Album: Vincebus Eruptum (1968)

16. BLUE CHEER - DOCTOR PLEASE, Album: Vincebus Eruptum (1968)

Blue Cheer

About the band

- Dickie Peterson - bass, vocals
- Paul Whaley - drums
- Leigh Stephens - guitar

San Francisco-based Blue Cheer was what, in the late '60s, they used to call a "power trio": Dickie Peterson (b. 1948, Grand Forks, ND) (bass, vocals), Paul Whaley (drums), and Leigh Stephens (guitar). They played what later was called heavy metal, and when they debuted in January 1968 with the album Vincebus Eruptum and a Top 40 cover of Eddie Cochran's hit "Summertime Blues," they sounded louder and more extreme than anything that had come before them. As it turned out, they were a precursor of much that would come after. Read more.

Doctor Please - Lyrics

Help me please, Doctor
Doctor, won't you please
I need your pain killer, Doc
Shot inside of me.
Well I ain't got no money, child
But I been here before
Cash me in, Fill me up
Why don't you throw me out the door!

Well help me, Doctor
Well why won't you
Why don't you
C'mon and help me please
Won't you please
Whoa, I need your good living
Shot inside of me, Yeah!

I got this funny feeling
Feeling inside my head
Without your good living, Doc
Well I believe that I'll be dead
Doctor don't you turn me down
And won't you hear what I say
I need your good living, Doc
And I need it right away!

Well help me, Doctor
Well why don't you
Why won't you C'mon and help me please
Won't you please
Without your good living
No! What would I be!

I got this funny feeling
Feeling inside my head
Without your pain killer, Doc
Well I believe that I'll be dead
Doctor don't you turn me down
Don't burn me away
I need your pain killer, Doc
And I need it right away.

Well help me, Doctor
Well why won't you
Why don't you
C'mon and help me please
Won't you please
Without your pain killer, Doc
Lord! What would I be - Alright, Stick it to me Doctor!

17. PIG DESTROYER - RED TAR, Album: Mass & Volume (2014)

Pig Destroyer mass & volume

About the Album

Recorded during the final hours of the sessions for the ‘Phantom Limb’ lp (Decibel Magazine’s #1 record of 2007) ‘Mass & Volume’ finds Pig Destroyer’s typically break neck speed virtually come to a grinding halt.  2 epic songs of crushing doom prove that Pig Destroyer cannot only dominate all other wickedly fast grind bands, but that when Pig Destroyer does slow, they do slow better than anyone else out there.

Red Tar - Lyrics

In the moment of truth
I stuck with the lie
Got lost in the smoke
Became a slave
To a weak mind

Need to kill a hawk
Need to steal some wings
Blood like red tar

Overdosed on cynicism
Swept under and drowned
Lured in by a siren
I ran my ship aground
Slash of talon
Glimpse of Venus
Tidal waves crashing down

Need to kill a hawk
Need to steal some wings

Grief crawls in the shadow of time
Try to keep in mind
It's all finite.

1.  SLAYER - I HATE YOU, Album: Undisputed Attitude (1996), *cover track from VERBAL ABUSE, Just an American Band (1983)

Undisputed Attitude

This album is a collection of covers. Containing 14 tracks, the band covers everyone from Minor Threat to T.S.O.L., from D.I. to Iggy Pop. Given Slayer's Huntington Beach, CA, homeland, the hardcore roots are plain enough. Even on a collection of covers (with a pair of originals thrown in to boot), the Slayer imprint is unmistakable, and while taking a breather from fresh ideas on their own projects, this disc sounds like the bandmembers were having a blast if not exactly breaking new ground. They are extremely heavy and extremely brief cuts, but pack a wallop. For those looking toward Slayer's more direct roots, there are a pair of early experiments from a project Jeff Hanneman was in, "I Can't Stand You" and "Ddamn," and a Slayer newbie called "Gemini". Undisputed Attitude is a curiosity; it's far from an essential collection by Slayer. The true faithful will want this and most likely really get off on it. Read more at All Music.

"I Hate You"
(originally by Verbal Abuse)

You were just a waste of sperm
They way you look
Makes my stomach turn
The way you think
Is no way at all

God you really think you have balls

I hate you
Ain't it true
I hate you
And everything you do

You walk around like a fucking dick
And everytime you're near
You know I get real sick

You're so stupid
There's nothing in your head
God how I wish that you were dead

I hate you
Ain't it true
I hate you
And everything you do

2.  DIAMOND HEAD - AM I EVIL?, Album: Lightning to the Nations, (1980)

Diamond Head band

Diamond Head's first album -- aka the 'White Album," Lightning to the Nations, or simply "Diamond Head" -- is somewhat like the Ark of the Covenant of heavy metal. By unlocking its New Wave of British Heavy Metal secrets, one will discover most all the connecting points between the genre's '70s originators and the ensuing '80s hordes -- arguably even more so than via Iron Maiden. 1980, Diamond Head's masterpiece was anything but a marvel of recording technology, but rather a living, breathing, electrifying studio performance financed by the band itself on a shoestring budget. As has been famously recounted numerous times, one of these landed on the desk of Sounds heavy metal editor and N.W.O.B.H.M. champion Geoff Barton, who famously quipped with typical British hyperbole that any one of Diamond Head's songs featured as many great riffs as the first four Black Sabbath albums. Diamond Head Ligthning to the nations

"Am I Evil?"

My mother was a witch, she was burned alive.
Thankless little bitch, for the tears I cried.
Take her down now, don't want to see her face
All blistered and burnt, can't hide my disgrace.

Twenty-seven, everyone was nice.
Gotta see 'em make 'em pay the price.
See their bodies out on the ice.
Take my time.

Am I evil? Yes I am.
Am I evil? I am man, yes I am.

As I watched my mother die, I lost my head.
Revenge now I sought, to break with my bread.
Taking no chances, you come with me.
I'll split you to the bone, help set you free.

Twenty-seven, everyone was nice.
Gotta see 'em make 'em pay the price.
See their bodies out on the ice.
Take my time.

Am I evil? Yes I am.
Am I evil? I am man, yes I am.

On with the action now, I'll strip your pride.
I'll spread your blood around, I'll see you ride.
Your face is scarred with steel, wounds deep and neat.
Like a double dozen before ya, smells so sweet.

Am I evil? Yes I am.
Am I evil? I am man.

I'll make my residence, I'll watch your fire.
You can come with me, sweet desire.
My face is long forgot, my face not my own.
Sweet and timely whore, take me home.

Am I evil? Yes I am.
Am I evil? I am man.

My soul is longing for, await my heir.
Sent to avenge my mother, sweep myself.
My face is long forgot, my face not my own.
Sweet and timely whore, take me home.

Am I evil? Yes I am.
Am I evil? I am man.

3.  METALLICA - WHIPLASH, Album: Kill 'Em All, (1983)

Young Metallica Boys

Kill 'Em All

The true birth of thrash. On Kill 'Em All, Metallica fuses the intricate riffing of New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Diamond Head with the velocity of Motörhead and hardcore punk. James Hetfield's highly technical rhythm guitar style drives most of the album, setting new standards of power, precision, and stamina. But really, the rest of the band is just as dexterous, playing with tightly controlled fury even at the most ridiculously fast tempos. There are already several extended, multi-sectioned compositions foreshadowing the band's later progressive epics, though these are driven by adrenaline, not texture. A few tributes to heavy metal itself are a bit dated lyrically; like Diamond Head, the band's biggest influence, Kill 'Em All's most effective tone is one of supernatural malevolence -- as pure sound, the record is already straight from the pits of hell. Read more at All Music.

Early Metallica

Dave Mustaine (lead guitar), original member of METALLICA, was fired by the band in 1983. He was replaced by Kirk Hammett and went on to form MEGADETH to persue his personal vendetta on Metallica; in the end, Megadeth has achieved worldwide success. It is undeniable the profund contribution Mustaine made to Metallica's sound and to thrash metal in general.

"Lords Of Summer"

Pale riders into the night
Galloping harder and faster

Through your dreaming wake
Walk through the fire innate
Frost bitten soul below zero

Are you remembering the sound
Recall the shaking of the ground

Calling, calling
All as one
Lords of summer bring the sun

Coming, coming
Winter's yearn
Lords of summer shall return

Eternal thawing has begun
Come trade your darkness for the sun
Melting the chill of winter's turn
Now that the lords of summer have returned

Lords of summer have returned

Life passes through penetrate
It's been a long lonely winter

Fading the volume and light
Reanimated by fire

Become the nexus of the sound
Become the shaking of the ground

Calling, calling
All as one
Lords of summer bring the sun

Coming, coming
Winter's yearn
Lords of summer have returned

Come trade your darkness for the sun
Melting the chill of winter's turn

5.  ANTHRAX - INDIANS, Album: Among the Living, (1987)

Anthrax band 1987

Among the Living

Generally considered the band's best album, Among the Living broadened the scope of Anthrax's subject matter with socially conscious lyrics addressing prejudice, violence, drug abuse, and the hollowness of the music business, as well as a politically correct ode to the "Indians." However, the band refuses to take itself too seriously, also recording tributes to Stephen King and Judge Dredd. Musically, the band delivers a powerful, aggressive roar driven by impossibly fast riffing and the changing tempos and collectively shouted vocals of hardcore, especially on the classic "Caught in a Mosh." We all see black and white
When it comes to someone else's fight
No one ever gets involved
Apathy can never solve

FORCED OUT - Brave and mighty
STOLEN LAND - They can't fight it
HOLD ON - To pride and tradition
Even though they know how much their lives are really missin'

On reservation
A hopeless situation

Respect is something that you earn
Our Indian brother's getting burned
Original American
Turned into, second class citizen

Cry for the Indians
Die for the Indians
Cry for the Indians
Cry, Cry, Cry for the Indians

Love the land and fellow man
Peace is what we strive to have
Some folks have none of this
Hatred and prejudice
TERRITORY, It's just the body of the nation
The people that inhabit it make its configuration
PREJUDICE, Something we all can do without
Cause a flag of many colors is what this land's all about

Purchase the new album here!

"Don't Die"

Life is a prison.
Imagined by the demons within.
It's in your head, so get the fuck out!
Come see me!

I will give you every ounce of my being.
I will give you the strength.
I will give you every ounce of my being.
I will show you my strength.
So let it drain out!
Send every bit of that hate out to me.
We are here to make this moment eternal.
Just give me your hate.

I will give you every ounce of my being.
I will give you the strength.
I will give you every ounce of my being.
Just give me your hate.

We have been beaten down
We have been pushed aside

We sing these songs so that you don't die
We sing these songs for the broken down.
The beaten up and the pushed aside.
You aren't alone in this path of life.
We sing these songs, so you don't.
So you don't die!

I will show you a pit of redemption
A place where you can find your own.
We won't be tortured.
By the hatred.
Taken in arms we make hate our home.

We are the beaten and pushed aside!
We sing these songs so. You. Don't. die!
We are the beaten and pushed aside!
We sing these songs so. You. Don't. die!
We sing these songs
So. You. Don't. Die!

We sing these songs for the broken down.
The beaten up and pushed aside.
You aren't alone in this path of life.

We sing these songs so that you don't die
We sing these songs for the broken down.
The beaten up and pushed aside.
You aren't alone in this path of life.
We sing these songs
So. You. Don't.
You don't die!

We sing these songs so. You. Don't. Die!

7.  BLACK SABBATH - ZEITGEIST, Album: 13, (2013)

Astral engines in reverse
I'm falling through the universe again
Down among a deadmen's vision
Faded dreams and nuclear fission spent

The strings of theory are holding up the race
The puppets falling to the ground
The love I feel as I fly endlessly through space
Lost in time I wonder will my ship be found

On this sinking ship I travel
Faster than the speed of light
Not so supernova burns
The black holes turn and fade from sight
The strings of theory hide in the human race
The answers buried underground
The love I feel as I fly endlessly through space
Lost in time, I wonder will my ship be found

And very soon
The Bomber's moon
Will show us light
And as we crash
We'll pray and kiss
And say goodnight

8.  ANGEL WITCH - ATLANTIS, Album: Angel Witch, (1980)

In 1979, Angel Witch was one of the most promising bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, with a hardcore following and a modestly successful single under their belts. But like many fine bands of that movement, bad luck, bad management, and misunderstanding record companies forced them into early retirement. Like most of their peers, Angel Witch combined the basic lessons of Black Sabbath with the energy and speed of Motörhead, but their leader, Kevin Heybourne, was also a master songsmith, elevating the band to headliner status over competitors like Iron Maiden early in their career. Formed in 1977 by vocalist/guitarist Heybourne, Angel Witch went through a number of personnel changes before recruiting bassist Kevin "Skids" Riddles and drummer Dave Hogg. As the punk movement gradually self-destructed, the band payed its dues and built a reputation playing clubs and pubs with other young metal bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and Saxon.

9.  DANZIG - DIRTY BLACK SUMMER, Album: Danzig III How the Gods Kill, (1992)

Danzig 3

Danzig III

Featuring disturbing cover art from H.R. Giger, Danzig's third album continues to expand the band's musical range; rather than pounding away at simple blues riffs, the atmospheric title track (yet another rewrite of "Twist of Cain," this time at a slower tempo) and the haunting ballad "Sistinas" attempt to match their music with the darkness of Glenn Danzig's lyrics, resulting in two of the album's high points. Danzig's vocals are more subtle in places, and John Christ's guitar work continues to improve. Arguably the definitive Danzig album. All Music

"Dirty Black Summer"

no summer in the wintertime
will keep you warm
like a funeral pyre
and nothing
like an august night
in your loving
I got a dirty
black summer

and nothing
in the coolest light
cant stop the walking out across
the line
no holding back the summer night
I got a feeling

it's just a dirty
black summer

10. SADUS - UNDEAD, Album: Illusions (1988)

Thanks to a pair of amazingly influential demos -- D.T.P. Demo (1986) and the cassette-only Certain Death (1987) -- and the world-spanning cassette tape-trading network thriving in the late '80s, Antioch, CA's Sadus, like so many of the era's heavy metal bands, became an underground sensation long before they even recorded their first album proper, the simply titled Illusions. Finally issued in late 1988, and produced by Metal Church guitarist John Marshall, Illusions was initially and understandably considered yet another Bay Area thrash metal album -- though a very accomplished one at that, given its unusually clear sound for an independent release. Yet, in retrospect, the album stood balanced on a knife's edge between the already fading (though few were aware of it) thrash scene, and the death metal movement about to replace it. Indeed, much like Sepultura's similarly transitioning Schizophrenia LP of a year earlier, key Illusions tracks like "Certain Death," "Torture," "Fight or Die," and even the rather funny "Sadus Attack," still played by the former style's unfailingly frantic, breakneck-speed rules, rarely ever slowing down to preempt the latter's greater dynamic diversity. But the young Sadus players' already awesome technical abilities clearly belonged with the next generation of post-thrash deathsters (particularly soon to be death metal superstar bassist Steve Digiorgio), and their jaw-dropping displays on additional offerings like "Torture" and "Chemical Exposure" often boasted a slew of escalating songwriting and performance complexities that were quite beyond the earlier Bay Area scene's limits.

11. TERRORIZER - CORPORATION PULL-IN, Album: World Downfall, (1989)

TErrorizer band

The group released its inaugural album, World Downfall, in 1989. It is seen as one of the classics of early grindcore. An album containing two rehearsal sessions of the band from 1987 was released in 2003.

In early 2005 it was rumored that Terrorizer were to reform with their original line-up; however, of the original line up, only Jesse Pintado and Pete Sandoval returned. The band released its second studio album, Darker Days Ahead, in August 2006, on Century Media Records. Tony Norman (Morbid Angel) joined on guitar and bass, and Anthony Rezhawk joined as the new vocalist. Pintado had been recording and playing shows with Rezhawk's band Resistant Culture and asked him to join Terrorizer. In the week of the album's release, Pintado died due to complications arising from liver failure.

In 2009, Terrorizer released a new demo track, "Hordes of Zombies", on its MySpace page. In June 2011, Terrorizer signed to Season of Mist, and released its third album, Hordes of Zombies, on February 28, 2012. Resistant Culture guitarist Katina Culture replaced Pintado and David Vincent rejoined on bass.

In November 2012, drummer Pete Sandoval announced that Terrorizer has begun writing new material for their fourth studio album.

Type O Negative

New York goth metal quartet Type O Negative were led by vocalist/bassist/songwriter Peter Steele and featured guitarist Ken Hickey, keyboardist Josh Silver, and drummer Johnny Kelly. Steele formed Type O Negative in 1990 out of the remnants of thrash band Carnivore, along with his friend Sal Abruscato (drums). Type O's music slowed down the tempos of thrash metal, alternately satirizing and wallowing in a glum mixture of misanthropy, misogyny, depression, and vampiric vocals, as well as loads of cheap-sounding guitar distortion. 13. MOTORHEAD - OVERKILL, Album: Overkill (1979)

Motorhead Band

Motörhead's overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal was one of the most groundbreaking styles the genre had to offer in the late '70s. Though the group's leader, Lemmy Kilminster, had his roots in the hard-rocking space rock band Hawkwind, Motörhead didn't bother with his old group's progressive tendencies, choosing to amplify the heavy biker rock elements of Hawkwind with the speed of punk rock. Motörhead wasn't punk rock -- they formed before the Sex Pistols and they loved the hell-for-leather imagery of bikers too much to conform with the safety-pinned, ripped T-shirts of punk -- but they were the first metal band to harness that energy and, in the process, they created speed metal and thrash metal. Unlike many of their contemporaries, Motörhead continued performing into the next century. Although the band changed its lineup many, many times -- Lemmy was its only consistent member -- they never changed their raging sound.

Overkill, Motörhead's first album for Bronze, was released in the spring of 1979. The album peaked at number 24, while its title track became the band's first Top 40 hit. Motörhead continued to gain momentum, as their concerts were selling well and Bomber, the follow-up to Overkill, reached number 12 upon its fall release. The band was doing so well that UA released the rejected album at the end of the year as On Parole. Ace of Spades, released in the fall of 1980, became a number four hit, while the single of the same name reached number 15. Read more at All Music

14. BOLT THROWER - THROUGH THE EYE OF TERROR, Album: Realm of Chaos, (1989)

Bolt Thrower Band

One of Britain's most consistent and enduring death metal bands, Birmingham's Bolt Thrower has weathered the best and worst of times in the extreme genre's history without ever giving in to commercial temptations, or hardly even altering its sound. The fact that they were unusually blessed with a steady lineup throughout much of their career no doubt contributed to this stability, and though they were rarely bestowed wild praise for their efforts, with most of their competitors or contemporaries either adopting other styles or long retired, Bolt Thrower has gradually established itself as one of the best death metal bands ever to emerge from England. 15. SLAYER - JESUS SAVES, Album: Reign in Blood, (1986)

Jesus Saves

Reign in Blood

Widely considered the pinnacle of speed metal, Reign in Blood is Slayer's undisputed masterpiece, a brief (under half an hour) but relentless onslaught that instantly obliterates anything in its path and clears out just as quickly. Producer Rick Rubin gives the band a clear, punchy sound for the first time in its career, and they largely discard the extended pieces of Hell Awaits in favor of lean assaults somewhat reminiscent of hardcore punk (though distinctly metallic and much more technically demanding). Reign in Blood opens and closes with slightly longer tracks (the classics "Angel of Death" and "Raining Blood") whose slower riffs offer most of the album's few hints of melody. Sandwiched in between are eight short (all under three minutes), lightning-fast bursts of aggression that change tempo or feel without warning, producing a disjointed, barely controlled effect. The album is actually more precise than it sounds, and not without a sense of groove, but even in the brief slowdowns, the intensity never lets up. There may not be much variation, but it's a unified vision, and a horrific one at that. The riffs are built on atonal chromaticism that sounds as sickening as the graphic violence depicted in many of the lyrics, and Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman's demented soloing often mimics the screams of the songs' victims. "Jesus Saves"

Hope is here, shout the news to everyone
It's a new day, peace has come, Jesus saves
Mercy triumphs at the cross
Love is come to rescue us, Jesus saves

Hope is here what a joyful noise we'll make
As we join with heaven's song
To let all the world know that Jesus saves
Raise a shout to let all the world know that Jesus saves

Slayer 1980s

Free at last, every debt has been repaid
Broken hearts can be remade, Jesus saves
Sing above the storms of life, sing through the darkest night
Jesus saves

Free at last, what a joyful noise we'll make
As we join with heaven's song
To let all the world know that Jesus saves
Raise a shout to let all the world know that Jesus saves

We'll sing it out to let all the world know
That Jesus saves
Raise a shout to let all the world know
That Jesus saves

God listens to Slayer

You save, you heal, restore, reveal
Your Father's heart to us
You rose to raise us from the grave
Your spirit lives in us

Sing it out to let all the world know
That Jesus saves
Raise a shout to let all the world know that
Jesus saves

Shout it out to let all the world know
That Jesus saves
Raise a shout to let all the world know that
Jesus saves

Sing it out to let all the world know
That Jesus saves
Raise a shout to let all the world know

Sing it out and shout for we will know your name

16. IRON MAIDEN - RUNNING FREE, BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show, (1979)

Running Free Iron Maiden

BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show

BBC Archives is a live album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 4 November 2002 as part of the Eddie's Archive box set. It is a collection of songs from three live shows and one live radio broadcast, recorded by the BBC between 1979 and 1988.

"Running Free"

Just sixteen, a pickup truck, out of money, out of luck.
I've got nowhere to call my own, hit the gas, and here I go.

I'm running free yeah, I'm running free.
I'm running free yeah, Oh I'm running free.

Spent the night in an L. A. jail, and listened to the sirens wail.
They ain't got a thing on me, I'm running wild, I'm running free.

Puller here at the Bottle Top, whiskey, dancing, disco hop.
Now all the boys are after me, and that's the way it's gonna be

I stop on red but I leave on amber
Danger face my way
I'm gonna make it my friend
Gonna make it today

Down the highway I go
Gotta get the stars from my route
Make it in a rock 'n' roll show, ooh, yeah

18. N.R.G. - INSTRUMENTS OF DESTRUCTION, Album: The Transformers The Movie: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, (1986)

Transformers the Movie 1986 Soundtrack

NRG formed and began writing songs in 1979. At that time the band invested in their own 8 track recording studio to lay down tracks for their music. The band started out recording in a cellar and rehearsed in a chicken coop that was internally covered wall to wall with rugs to deaden the sound while they practiced. NRG started when drummer Lee Mangano contacted a local guitar player named Ernie Petrangelo. A search began for a singer, and after many auditions, Les Brown a native of Taunton, Massachusetts, walked into the studio, put on a set of headphones, and started to sing. Les never made it to the first chorus and was asked to be in the band[citation needed]. The final member was bass player Pat Lynch.

Their song "Instruments of Destruction" is included in the compilation The Transformers The Movie: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Instruments of Destruction

Iron birds of fortune
Adrift above the skies
Cloudy revelations
Unseen by naked eyes
Flying tools of torment
Will penetrate the sphere
Erupt the rock of ages
Bringing final fear

Instruments of destruction
Tools of power plays
It's a violent eruption
Existence drips away

Whats it really matter
When nothing really counts
Grave eternal darkness
When drained of every ounce
And when the nightmare's over
The final from the storm
Dust of all creation
To ashes we transform

Instruments of destruction
Tools of power plays
It's a violent eruption
Existence drips away

19. TYGERS OF PAN TANG - SLAVE TO FREEDOM, Album: Wildcat, (1980)

Tygers of Pan Tang

One of the biggest misconceptions about the new wave of British heavy metal is that, because it arose as a reaction to punk rock, the two movements had nothing in common. But in reality, it was the brash energy and do it yourself ethos of punk which fueled the desire of bands like Iron Maiden and Def Leppard to resurrect the lessons taught by early '70s heavy metal originators like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple and translate them into an exciting musical form once again. Few bands epitomized this combination as clearly as the Tygers of Pan Tang, whose amazingly raw 1980 debut Wildcat owed much more to punk than metal due to its innocent vitality and the band's limited technical ability. All this simply serves to explain why such a seemingly flawed album was still considered a strong release within the parameters of its time and place. Read more at All Music.

Tygers of Pan Tang

Slave to Freedom

You shout about your freedom,
You bleed for weak and poor
Pouring out your conscience
Of which you're really sure
But who will save democracy
When all the killing's done?
Certainly not you with your
Bombs and knives and guns

Slave to freedom

The bodies of the fallen will be your epitaph
You may not laugh the longest,
But you will not laugh the last
And who will save democracy
When all the killing's done?
Certainly not you with your
Bombs and knives and guns

Slave to freedom - your rules are nearly through
Slave to freedom - you shout for you and you
You shout about the innocent
But your guilt is plain to see
The money's in your pocket
When the headcounting is through

20. MEGADETH - SET THE WORLD AFIRE, Album: So Far, So Goo...So What!, (1988)

So far so good so what line up

So Far, So Good, So What!

So Far, So Good... So What! displays music performed at "volumes approaching the threshold of pain". The album features fast guitar solos, multiple tempo changes and technical dexterity. Mike Stagno of Sputnikmusic observed that the album offers the classic "take no prisoners" style which is commonly associated with Megadeth; however, he noted that the sound does not differ much from the other underground metal bands from that period. Jim Farber of Rolling Stone called Mustaine's vocals "bloodthirsty" and praised the musicianship for keeping rhythmic pace even at the "most anarchic moments".Los Angeles Times journalist Dennis Hunt noted that the music was filled with extensive and "torrid" instrumentals and described Mustaine's singing as a combination of extreme shrieking and screaming. Despite the positive overview, "Anarchy in the U.K." received some negative criticism, partially because it was perceived to lack the rebelliousness of the original version.

The lyrical themes on the album explore a variety of subjects, from nuclear holocaust ("Set the World Afire") to revisionism and censorship ("Hook in Mouth").Still, the majority of the songs are accompanied by the same sentiment of disillusion and nihilism as their previous two albums. Unlike traditional topics related to heavy metal music, the song "In My Darkest Hour" contains emotional lyrics which deal with loneliness and isolation.Dave Mustaine revealed that he tried to write about subject matters that were in touch with reality, including social issues and taboo topics. The lyrics on Megadeth's cover of "Anarchy in the U.K." were slightly mistaken because Mustaine claimed he had heard them incorrectly.

Album by Megadeth

"Set The World A Fire"

Red flesh cloud's choking out the morning sky
They said it'd never come, we knew it was a lie
All forms of life die now the humans all succumb
Time to kiss your ass goodbye the end has just begun

Distorted figures walk the street, it's 1989
Weeds once underneath your feet have grown to vines
Bodies melted like a candies, a land without a face
No time to change your fate, no time left, it's too late
The arsenal of megadeth can't be rid they said
And if it comes, the living will envy the dead
Racing for power, and all come in last
No winning first stone cast
This falsehood worldly peace
It's treaties soon will cease
No one will be left to prove that humans existed
Maybe soon the children will be born open-fisted
We all live on one planet it will all go up in smoke

Too bad they couldn't see this lethal energy
And now the final scene, a global darkening

Dig deep piles of rubble and ruins
Towering overhead both far and wide
There's unknown tools for World War III
Einstein said ' We'll use rocks on the other side '
No survivors set the world afire

21. DEATH ANGEL - THRASHERS, Album: The Ultra Violence, (1987)

Death Angel Band

Death Angel was formed in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, in 1982 by cousins Rob Cavestany (lead guitar), Dennis Pepa (vocals, bass), Gus Pepa (rhythm guitar), and Andy Galeon (drums) -- all of Filipino descent. After considering a number of different names for the band, including Dark Fury, Cavestany and D. Pepa settled on the name Death Angel after coming across a book by that title in a book store. In 1983, the band released their first demo, Heavy Metal Insanity, with Matt Wallace serving as producer. According to Mark Osegueda, the group was then "more like a metal band, more like Iron Maiden, Tygers Of Pan Tang and stuff like that," as the so-called Bay Area thrash movement was only just beginning to rise to prominence at the time and make its influence felt. Osegueda, a second cousin of the other four members who had been working as their roadie, became the group's vocalist in 1984 and performed his first show with the band on a bill with Megadeth in April of that year (at one of the four Megadeth gigs to feature Kerry King on guitar).

Death Angel continued to play club gigs in and around the San Francisco Bay area for nearly two years, writing songs and refining their stage show. In 1986, the band recorded the Kill As One demo with Metallica's Kirk Hammett (whom they had met at a record store signing in 1983) as producer. The underground tape trading wave of the early 1980s led to extensive distribution of the demo, bringing the band wide attention.

Death Angel's debut album, The Ultra-Violence, in 1987. The band recorded the album when all the band members were still under 20 years old. A video was filmed for "Voracious Souls," a song about a band of cannibals, but it never aired on MTV due to the nature of the lyrics. The group released the follow-up album Frolic Through The Park in 1988, which spawned the single "Bored" (which was also used in the 1990 movie Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III), the video for which did receive regular airplay on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Metal minions! Embrace yourself for impact! We have curated a brutal assortment of metallic sounds for our first pod of the month of March. Get the heads up on new album releases for the month of March and even April! That’s right, you heard it here first! We honor the steel, embrace the brutal and pay tribute to those who have left their mark. For the best in international metal pick up one of our assorted shows and discover a new band, today!

Make a trip back to the (bloody) roots of extreme music, and be reminded why you got into heavy music in the first place. Check out extreme metallers from Turkey SEAL OF SOLOMON and the track “Story of a Prophet” from the band’s new album I, THE KING out on Wormhole Death Records!

Inspired by Conan the Barbarian movies (incidentally, the band’s singer goes by the moniker of Conan-by the way), shred guitar and everything heavy metal, we present another steel crafted track from the band EXMORTUS from their most novel release SLAVE TO THE SWORD. Crank up the track “Foe Hammer”.

CARNIFEX have released to the brutal masses their new album entitled DIE WITHOUT HOPE this month of March. After cranking the album, we mostly concur with the critics are saying about the album, “…they are writing from their hearts and deathcore is what happens to come out, not what they are intentionally writing towards…Die Without Hope is exactly that, deathcore.”-Metal Injection. So, we respectfully couldn't pick a better track from the album, check out “Hatred and Slaughter”.

THE DEVIL PUT DINOSAURS HERE, and he also got ALICE IN CHAINS writing music again! The veteran rockers of the heyday of grunge return with their new lead vocalist William DuVall to display again their quality. ALICE IN CHAINS maintain their sludgy sounding guitars, phantasmagoric melodies and dark lyrics in THE DEVIL PUT DINOSAURS HERE. We recommend the complete album, but could only feature the track “Stone” for this podcast.

HAMMER OF THE WITCH from RINGWORM is a f-ckin’ good album! Fast and vicious; you won’t be able to put it down. The press raves on, “…everything you love about the brutalest, viciousest metal infused hardcore legends continues without missing a step.”-Noise Magazine. We simply say that RINGWORM’s music is the only parasite we allow to live in our ears!

INTERNATIONAL METAL ALLEGIANCE will be the title of our first digital cd compilation which we are working in collaboration with ONLINE METAL PROMO. The album will feature an international cast of metal bands in addition to the bands on the agency. To give you a taste of bitter metal on your tongues we present the bands ZEPHANIAH and LORDS OF THE TRIDENT. The first, an over the top; skillful shred addicts; power metal power house is ZEPHANIAH with a track from their album gospel STORIES OF THE BOOK OF METAL. The second, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT are show cased with a track from third release PLAN OF ATTACK. This is a US power metal band that combines both the classic with the modern in heavy metal. The press comments on the EP, “It’s four tracks of non-stop hook after hook, classic heavy metal…enjoy this 21 minutes and 47 seconds of hard-as-steel!”-Metal Archives.

Just as we have showcased a song from the new ALICE IN CHAINS it arrived to us another press kit from our friends at Wormhole Death records. We were expecting at first another kick ass extreme band; however, that was not the case. As the first seconds of track one begun with an acoustic low tuned intro followed by power sludge guitars; we instantly had the feeling -and were transported to the age of grunge-. Bewildered by the innate heaviness and somehow reminiscing on what we were hearing, we arrived to the conclusion that we had stumbled onto something that is not heard often nowadays. It was the Norwegian band ANGERMAN, and their debut album NO TEARS OF THE DEVIL. It was a long time coming for a band to capture the essence of grunge and fusion it with metal. The band call their music GRM, grunge-rock-metal, and the band play it intrinsically.  Refreshing to the ear and reminiscing to the brain ANGERMAN will debut as a definite alternative from today’s common sounds.

We have just recently discovered the music of Italian extreme metal act REALITY GREY, and enjoyed very much the band’s sophomore release DEFINE REDEMPTION which will be available this April 15 through the Baker Team Records. This is really great heavy music that has a very modern sound. An album and band to look out for this year! Crank up the track “Departed Designs” in this podcast!

How about some “Blackjazz” from Norway? Coming from the land infamous for the black metal genre we present a new concept which fusions metal and jazz music directly. SHINING is a jazz-metal band that redefined their own genre of metal called Blackjazz. The band will make their Prosthetic Records debut with ONE ONE ONE the follow up to the BLACKJAZZ album this May 28. Check out the track “The Hurting Game” form the album and listen to the saxophone solo!

Mini tribute to DANZIG and THE MISFITS! Glenn Danzig vocalist for DANZIG and original founder of the MISFITS is featured with a couple tracks. From the album DANZIG 4 (1994), we have the track “Going Down to Die”; and from his time with the MISFITS the track “Die, Die My Darling”. THE MISFITS carry on their legacy now under the command of Jerry Only. We feature a track from the album THE DEVIL’S RAIN (2011).

Colombian extreme metallers T-Machines are featured with a track from their debut release DOOMED out now on Digmetalworld Records. T-Machines is the side project of Juancho Gomez, guitar player of the Colombian metal band MASACRE.

Described as an" old-school approach to hardcore...delving back into the music of Gorilla Biscuits and American Nightmare" (Metal Hammer), the band POLAR make their Prosthetic Records debut with the album SHADOWED BY VULTURES available this April 15. Crank up the first single from the album entitled “Glass Cutter” in this podcast.

Since the OPPOSITE FROM WITHIN (2004) album, I’ve lost track of German metalcore band CALIBAN. I really enjoyed the albums VENT (2001) and SHADOW HEARTS (2003) from the band. I think it’s been now almost ten years since those records and the band has been releasing album after album; singing from Roadrunner to now Century Media. The year is 2014 and CALIBAN have released their ninth studio album entitled GHOST EMPIRE. I always had a place for CALIBAN in my personal music collection, but it is now time to get back into their music. Featured in the podcast is the song “I Am Ghost” another example of the great musicianship and sense for melodic hooks in the songs from CALIBAN. After this, I’ll definitely give the albums in between from THE OPPOSITE FROM WITHIN to GHOST EMPIRE a listen. Above all, they’re still a great band!

Like we said at the beginning, we embrace the brutal! Two great new bands featured in the podcast are KHAOZ and INSAIN.

KHAOZ is a old-school Dutch death metal band formed by members of Sinister, Pleurisy, The Embodiment, Houwitser and Dead Head. The album is called I, CREATOR OF DAMNATION released this Jan 24. The song extracted for the podcast is Crimson Mind.

Beware Brutal Death Metal fans: your Universe features a new deadlier spot on the map, way beyond the stellar remnants there is the band INSAIN! Featured is the new album ENLIGHTENING THE UNKNOWN out this March 11 is the band's brutal dose of black matter transforming the laws of gravity into a singularity distorting space and time and attracting everything around bringing all that is darkness to a stellar chaos!

One of the most exciting modern metal bands out there is REVOCATION. The band returns with their fourth full-length and most mind-blowingly impressive self-titled album to the date. Check out the track “Invidious” for the podcast!

Okay, we admit it took us a while to release the March podcast, but take our word for it only quality bands worth your listen are featured. So, enjoy and keep supporting independent metal!

Thick as blood and heavy as iron, February brought us some impressive new bands and fresh releases from reputable and infamous metal labels of the realm of heavy kick ass-distorted-ear-shattering music! We are left with a feeling of satisfaction and expectation of what is coming ahead in the following month.

We have already started scouting bands for the best of the year show, and have included in this Podcast some candidates that you should definitely look up. Artists that will surely stir some waves for the rest of the year will be THEY MIGHT BE ZOMBIES (US) and their much anticipated debut, GRENOUER (Russia) and their album BLOOD ON THE FACE, UNDECIMBER (Sweden) with their Feb 14 mega goth record DEAD INSIDE; and extreme metallers NOCTEM's March 3 release for the album EXILIUM; featured a brand new track from the album because you heard it here first! We will definitely have a full review of the album, but in the mean time, check out our interview with EXO for the previous record by clicking here

Thrashers always invited over to hang and piss in our toilet! NAPALM STORM is a vicious Spanish thrash band from Zaragoza, and they are featured with a track from their album HARMLESS CRUELTY; also to piss all over our religious neighbors' rug!

We have been inspired lately by fast music, booze, gorgon creatures and ramming devices; for instance, RAMMING SPEED! This is a killer band with a killer record called DOOMED TO DESTROY, DESTINED TO DIE and precisely that's how we begin this podcast; ramming one of their songs into your ears!

Joey Jordison-did he quit Slipknot or not? have to listen to his latest musical creation called SCAR THE MARTYR. Jordison has stated that this band is everything he ever wanted in a band, musically. The song featured, Effigy Unborn, is pretty kick ass, and the record is not bad, that really depends whether or not SLIPKNOT will get off their maggot asses and put the masks on for another album!

So much hype has been stirred up by the most novel release from Valencia, Spain's extreme metallers NOCTEM. EXILIUM is ready for its official release this March 3 thru Art Gate Records that will also include the world premiere of a new music video. But of course, you already knew that, you have been tuning in to the Podcast. So, for being such a good listener of our humble metal show, we have another exclusive track from the album, Decrepit Human Kingdom, enjoy!

SAWTHIS is a modern thrash metal band  from Italy that has been abusing the live stages of Europe since  their first official release in 2003. The band has supported several international metal acts such as Lacuna Coil, Entombed, Sepultura, etc. Check out a track from the latest album YOUNIVERSE. *I honestly thought they were from Sweden; but that is not the case, and I'm not a redneck mormon missionary either.

It's time to officially welcome the label XTREEM MUSIC to the Podcast, and for the label's debut on the show we highlight two brutal acts. The first, PHOBOS PREACHER a band also from Zaragoza, Spain *I have just noticed that we have several Spanish bands on this show. The story behind this band is that it is a band made from the break up of two bands who merged to make a new project. After winning the Kolonorock (Sancho Abarca, Zaragoza) battle of the bands in 2012 the band recorded their debut album HUMANOS under DOWNMUSIC/IZKAR PRODUCCIONES in 2013. Featured in this pod is the track "La Perdicion" or Perdition.

The second, are the French veterans of death metal MERCYLESS in existence since 1987. The band without a doubt are experienced veterans of brutality. They have been the support for international bands such as MORGOTH, TIAMAT, SAMAEL, UNLEASHED, CANNIBAL CORPSE, OBITUARY and even legendary band DEATH! The list goes on for these brutal masters. After almost 13 years into their hiatus the band regrouped and recorded a comeback record UNHOLY BLACK SPLENDOR under Trendkill Recordings in 2013. Check out the track God is Dreaming from this album in the podcast.

Goth metallers UNDECIMBER are featured with another blood soaked track entitled Three Pages from Hell from the bands FEB 14 release, DEAD INSIDE available through DOWNFALL RECORDS. UNDECIMBER is a band you have got to get your vampire fangs into!

Inspired by the atmospheric sounds of bands such as Rammstein, Depeche Mode, Joy Division and Deathstars the band RUBLOOD make their industrial/goth/metal debut on the show. Featured the track Heart from the band's debut STAR VAMPIRE.

Viking metallers AMON AMARTH will drink with you in Valhalla and raise a glass to the fallen warriors of Norse mythology. In the podcast, the track Guardians of Asgaard from the album TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDER GOD, 2008.

Female fronted band CADAVERIA from Italy are featured with a track from their HORROR METAL, 2013 album available through BAKERTEAM RECORDS. In existence since 2003, the quintet have toured all over Italy, France, Mexico, Spain and Romania. Available now is the band's retrospective Double DVD entitled KARMA under SCARLET RECORDS.

Controversial pagan musician Varg Vikerness' project BURZUM is featured with a track from the 1996 release FILOSOFEM. Varg has stated in several interviews that he  does not agree of Burzum being labeled as "Black Metal". Varg prefers the term  Heavy Metal or better as "Scaldic Metal".  We would like to coin it as depressive shoe-gaze black metal, or something. You make up your own labels, don't copy ours!

Critics say that NORMA JEAN's new record WRONGDOERS, 2013 as setting themselves apart.  The record sounds like a debut, hits like a veteran and commands like a champion.  We would agree that the band keeps on sounding novel, and that they keep on being magnets to your ears. Check out the track Hive Minds in the podcast.

Relapse Records present in this podcast the band WEEKEND NACHOS from Chicago. I would like to share with you a funny story. I was making the playlist for the podcast, and my girl was doing her college work while listening to how I was picking the bands for the show. I usually start by just throwing songs into a Winamp playlist, and usually play the songs in different order arrangements to feel which song would sound better after the other. The thing is that when I hear her make certain remarks that sometimes surprise her while listening to my playlist; I would usually think, "hey, that works!", and save the particular order of the songs. Since she is caught up with her college work, a reaction to a song being played that interrupts her mindset or mood is when I know the song progression is good. Well, her remark when hearing the song from WEEKEND NACHOS was, "hey, that sounds weird, what is the name of the band?". I promptly quoted, "WEEKEND NACHOS", she replied, "huh, what did you say, how can such great music have a stupid name like that, let me guess; they're Americans, right?" I answered, "yup, you got it honey." She replied, "Ha! I knew it. It had to be some spoiled dumb Americans who can call themselves NACHOS!" She continued with her argument, "They might as well call themselves TACO BELL or some sh-t like that! What a lack of creativity, they had to be Americans!" She concluded, "Naw, I'm not interested anymore, stop playing such stupid bands on your show!" I tried to justify the name by adding that they were signed to RELAPSE, and that they had severed heads on their album covers, and Freddy Kruger mascots in their merchandise. I even tried to defend the WEEKEND NACHOS by stating to her that they were genre ground breakers; powerviolence/sludge metal. In the end, nothing I would say to defend the NACHOS gave them an inch of metal respect in my girl's feminine metal mindset. I will conclude stating that metal, and all the ape sh-t crazy antics that we men consider as cool is thanks to testosterone! Alas, check out the song Satan Sucker from WEEKEND NACHOS from their Relapse Records release, STILL.

So here you have it. Another assorted collection of brutal sounds, novel releases, and Taco Bell induced metal to wrap up the month of February; good riddance and enjoy!

Fresh new metal from:

RETRIBUTION album released this Jan 31 AFM records

SLAVE TO THE SWORD released Feb 4  Prosthetic Records

THE SATANIST out this Feb 4 Nuclear Blast

NERO IN METASTASI out this Feb 10

S/T out this Feb 11 Kaotoxin records

DEAD INSIDE out this Feb 14 Downfall records

UNDECIMBER is a band you have got to get into this year! For the band's sophomore release DEAD INSIDE, the album is inclined more to a goth genre lyrically (blood, lust, pain, more blood); but musically this album sounds very metal driven. Noticeably, vocalist and guitarist Snakes singing stands out in the tracks with a goth-sleaze tone in which you can feel the lustful pain of a wandering ghost. Additional to the heavy guitar (Lash) and bass (Missy) riffs, the keyboards in the songs make for a delicate melody that provides the mysterious atmosphere. Released this Feb 14, you can only guess where the dark romanticism comes from, but this is truly goth metal with balls from Sweden! Tracks to look out for in this record are FATAL KISS, BEYOND THE GRAVE and TEARS OF THE PAST-they all could make great singles. It's an album you will enjoy listening from beginning to the end, goth rockers and metal heads alike!

EXILIUM out this March 3 AGR Studios

"EXILIUM" NOCTEM's much anticipated release will arrive for the ravishing metal masses to consume this March 3 via AGR Studios . After the highly acclaimed OBLIVION (2011) album which got the band set on the international world stage, the Valencia, Spain black/death metal assemble returns with another master piece of pugnacious extreme metal debauchery. Hand picked by the band's lead guitar, EXO, the track EIDOLON arrived to us as an excellent example of the epic savagery of the band's composition style. EXILIUM will unequivocally set new heights for NOCTEM; furthermore, old and new fans alike will find the new record most appealing to the ear.
